I recently bought mi note pro and my phone fingerprint scanner stopped working. Redmi phone fingerprint not working? But I never thought it will continue with Xiaomi Redmi 5 series .Fingerprint scanner issue is also common with in Samsung and Apple phones. In Redmi devices sometimes, it doesn’t let you add a new fingerprint to the phone, I have tried to delete the scanned fingerprints. But when I started scanning new fingerprints, it shows “Couldn’t add fingerprint. Please try again later” and it automatically came back to the settings page. I have tried restart to my phone but nothing worked out for me.

How to fix android phone fingerprint sensor / scanner issue not working properly

I’m giving you some easy fixes  that you can follow when your android /Redmi phone Fingerprint sensor /scanner not work properly .I have also tried to do fix my Redmi note 5/ 5 pro fingerprint issue. I hope it will work on other android phones too.

Fix 1.Hard Reset

First you have to back up the data on your phone’s internal storage. Also, keep your messages, contacts, and call logs safe.

Step 1: Go to Settings

Step 2: Backup & Reset

Step 3: Factory data reset

Step 4: Reset phone

Then Erase everything. Provide your security credentials and the phone will be reset within minutes.
Fix 2 Update the new version

Go to phone Settings.

Step 1: Scroll down and tap on About Phone.

Step 2: At the bottom, tap on System Updates icon.

Step 3: Click on Check for Updates Button.

Step 4: Download the latest version of MIUI.

Step 5: Reboot the phone (It may take 8 to 20 minutes).

Now try unlocking your android phone using fingerprint scanner.
Fix 3. Delete the old finger print scanner and new fingerprints

Sometime deleted the old fingerprint scanner and add new fingerprints will also work. You can try this and solve fingerprint issue on your android phones

Step 1: Go to Settings app on your Redmi 5/Redmi pro device.

Step 2: You will find out Lock screen & password option and tap on it.

Step 3: Now you need to select ‘Manage fingerprints’.

Step 4: Next option, you have to enter the password which you’ve created earlier while adding the fingerprint security.
Step 5: Now you can choose the fingerprint you want to delete.

Step 6: Finally, tap on ‘Remove fingerprint’ to delete the fingerprint permanently. Similarly you can delete all your fingerprint ID’s one after another.

How to add fingerprints and lock your Redmi Note 5 / Note 5 pro?

Step 1: If you have not already registered and set up fingerprint lock on your Redmi Note 5/note 5 pro, go to Settings -> Lock screen & password -> Screen lock & fingerprint. Use the Add fingerprint option to register a new fingerprint on the device. Now enable the App lock option from under the ‘Apply Fingerprint To’ section.

Step 2: Open the Security app from the home screen of your Redmi Note 5/note 5 pro and select the App Lock option. Now you have to enter the pattern/PIN or verify your fingerprint for authentication purposes.

Note: For security purposes, you have to keep this pattern different from the unlock pattern of your device.

Step 3: Now you will be automatically prompted to use the registered fingerprint to unlock the locked apps.

Step 4: With everything done, you will be shown the list of apps that you have locked down. by tapping the cog icon located at the top-right corner .You can see more advanced App-lock related settings, you can select whether all the locked apps are unlocked when you unlock one app, hide the pattern that you are drawing on the screen for the pattern lock, change the lock settings i.e. apps are locked only after the device is locked or automatically after you exit them, and more.

This is the better feature given in latest android phones/ MIUI 9 companies, this is the way you can unlock your phone easily and no one can use your phone without your permission.
